Happy Monday Sheflie! This week we're playing with SHAPES from my toddler curriculum. Even though this unit is *ideal* for 17 and 18-month-olds, it's so fun to dive into a topic with Lachlan and explore it further. Just because he knows the basics of something doesn't mean there's not a lot to learn still! We will read books, talk about colors, notice shapes indoors and outdoors in nature, and even watch the videos I created specifically for my toddler curriculum (and are available to you as well after you purchase it). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The many faces of our 6-month-old Mac Pack 💛 We've come a long way since Mother's Day 2019. I wish I could go back and give that version of me a huge hug and say, it's going to be SO GOOD. But going through Hell in order to get *here* was very much worth it. I couldn't imagine my life any other way. Mother's Day is hard, y'all. If you have a friend

Mother's Day is hard, y'all. If you have a friend that's struggled with miscarriage or pregnancy loss, please know that this weekend is exceptionally challenging for them. When you become pregnant, everyone calls you mom. But after losing a baby - you're no longer a mom in their eyes, and it hurts so much to lose that title abruptly. So what can you do? Acknowledge them. Text them tomorrow and let them know. you're thinking of them. The same goes for friends who have tough relationships with their mothers. Or those who no longer have their mom here. The worst thing you can do is ignore them on a day that should be celebrating them. (I promise they're already thinking about it. You're not going to remind them of something painful if you're honoring them in the process)!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

And if you are in the throes of heartbreak, waiting for a baby to be in your arms, please know I am here to talk. That feeling is still exceptionally fresh for us and I'm not sure if it will ever go away, so I'm sending extra big hugs to you, mommas. Today is International Bereaved Mothers Day. I'll never forget our first daughter who made me a mom. #HopeJaneMcLellan ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In 2017, my husband and I began trying for a family. We were ready and excited. Within the third month, we got pregnant and then miscarried a few days later. Neither of us had any idea how common it was before that day and I had no idea how painful it would all be: mentally and physically. 1 in 4 mommas and husbands have felt or will feel the ache of a miscarriage in their lifetime. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Five months after our miscarriage, we became pregnant again and were due in April 2018. Right before Thanksgiving, at 22 weeks, we learned that something was wrong with our sweet baby and she wasn’t going to make it. I delivered her and we are still mourning the loss of our girl, Hope.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
About a year later, we gave birth to our son Lachlan. And two years later, we found out we were pregnant with twins. I look at our three kids now and cannot believe how far we have come. From this couple who were heartbroken, drinking hot chocolate on the couch and savoring the last moments we had with our daughter in my belly to an exhausted and hectic family of five who can't believe the life we have now.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

To the mamas in waiting and the mamas with empty arms, I'm so sorry and sending you the biggest of hugs. I am always here to listen and am just heartbroken for you. It's Hell. We still desperately miss our daughter and the babies we lost, but are so amazed at God's plan and how perfect it has been for our family. #andifnotHeisstillgood ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
